This chameleon originating from Yemen is one of the largest, with males reaching a length of 60 cm. Its most striking feature is its giant helmet which can exceed 8 cm in males. Females are smaller and less colorful. Its five fingers are fused into two groups (one of 2 fingers, the other of 3 fingers), they form a pincer which allowed it to hold a branches. Its prehensile tail serves as its 5th member
It hunts on the lookout, its eyes alone, independent of each other and always on the move, examining the surroundings. Once it has spotted its prey, it grabs it with its long tongue which it flicks out at lightning speed.
Its color changes are : the expression of its mood, in order to adapt to temperatures and to hide from predators.
