- Origin: Colombia
- Class: Amphibians
- Order: Anures
- Family: Dendrobatidés
Phyllobate terribilis is found in small areas, exclusively on the Pacific coast of Colombia. It lives on the ground in primary rainforests. It is the most toxic of all frogs, with a poison 200 times more potent than morphine; a single individual could kill a dozen humans.
Like all dendrobates, the male sings to attract a mate in a courtship ritual, but unlike most other members of the Dendrobatidae family, its colouration is uniform in adulthood.
IUCN Status : near threatened (Appendix II). This species is endangered.
