This toad lives a twilight life on sugar cane plantations close to settlements. It can grow up to 25 cm in size and live up to 40 years.
Like all toads, it has a thick, warty skin that protects it with its toxic secretions, bufotalin.
Its food consists of insects, earthworms and small mammals.
