It lives in the tropical rainforests of South America. Nocturnal and arboreal, it lives high up in the trees and hardly ever comes down.
It breeds in the rainy season, with the pair finding a water-filled hole high up in a tree, where the female lays 2,000 to 3,000 eggs.
This tree frog can defend itself using a toxic substance secreted from its skin and can also inflate itself to impress its enemies.
