Thought to be extinct, this gecko was rediscovered in 1994 and is also known as the crested or fringed gecko. It is arboreal and particularly fond of the tropical rainforest canopy. It feeds on insects and ripe fruit.
Its fingers are equipped with adhesive strips that enable it to climb even on the smoothest surfaces. The tip of its tail, which is semi-perceptible, also has an adhesive surface that enables it to stick to branches or leaves. It is capable of severing its tail in the event of an attack or severe stress. It will grow back partially.
