• Origin: Brazil, Surinam, Guyana and French Guyana
  • Class: Amphibians
  • Order: Anures
  • Family: Dendrobatidés

This frog is found on the plains of tropical rainforests. This dendrobate has more than thirty morphs! In zoology, this is the visual difference involving coloration (among other things) between organisms of distinct populations of a species.

In the nature, the female lays her eggs on a more or less moist surface and the male’s job is to regulate the water level. When the tadpoles hatch, he carries them on his back to a shallow puddle (usually in a tree hole or on a leaf) where they complete their growth.

IUCN Status : least concern (Appendix III)
